Astoria

Looking for fun things to do in Astoria Oregon?

Astoria is a small town on the mouth of the Columbia River near the Oregon coast. This iconic Oregon coast town is famous for being the site of the classic 1985 film The Goonies. Astoria Oregon is surrounded by Douglas Fir, Hemlock and Spruce trees and is rich in natural beauty and fun things to do.

Astoria is located in the northwest corner of Oregon, situated on the Columbia River and Young’s Bay. The nearest town in Washington state is Megler, which can be reached by crossing the Columbia river on the historic 4.1 mile Astoria-Megler Bridge.

Warrenton

Warrenton is at the end of the Oregon Trail. Located west across Young’s Bay from Astoria, it sits on the most northwestern point of the State of Oregon. The area’s history is visible to this day.

Explore the same landscapes seen during expeditions made by the Corps of Discovery in the early 1800s. Surrounded by water, Warrenton is a charming community located on the Columbia River, with a sizable marina and Victorian-era homes. The nearby Fort Stevens State Park, which extends up to the jetty at the mouth of the Columbia, offers camping, trails, beach access, and swimming at Coffenbury Lake. Fort Stevens itself was built overlooking the Columbia during the 1850s and is now a military museum open to the public. On the Pacific Coast nearby, the large iron skeleton of the 1906 shipwreck Peter Iredale sits embedded in the sand.

Cannon Beach

Haystack Rock towers on the shoreline. Waterfalls cascade onto the sand at Hug Point. Marine life peeks out at low tide. It’s no wonder National Geographic listed Cannon Beach as one of the 100 most beautiful places in the world in 2013. Plus the city’s many art galleries, restaurants, boutiques and oceanfront lodging can easily spark your imagination. If you’re into those kinds of things.

Cannon Beach is a famous, quaint small town on the beach. It is commonly recognized as one of the best beaches in Oregon. It is most famous for towering Haystack Rock. The Goonies and part of the Twilight were filmed on Indian Beach in Ecola State Park in Cannon Beach, Oregon.
